A Windy Wedding

Photo_wedding

September 2nd arrived more quickly than we ever could have expected. Somehow in a flurry of picking venues, tasting cake, licking envelopes, arranging flowers, fretting over colors, reciting vows, practicing steps, and pondering that eternal question (duet or quartet?), our wedding snuck up on us.

Never ones to abide by tradition, Tiffany and I started our day with a nice breakfast -- together, and in full view of each other. After a stack of pancakes and a plate of waffles, we parted ways just as the clouds gathered over the sun. In spite of gusty winds and a little mist, we hoped the weather would hold out. During an anxious chat, Tiffany's attentive hairdresser, Elie, promised her that every hair would remain in place -- rain or shine.

Hours later (and almost an hour late), we battled against New England winds to force open the doors of the Boston Harbor Hotel and commence the processional into Foster's Pavilion. In the blink of an eye, we walked down the aisle, recited our vows, dipped into our first kiss, and receded through a shower of rose petals.

After a short trolley ride, we arrived at the Langham Hotel. The band was already playing and the guests already mingling. Tiffany and I anxiously rushed behind closed doors to get in one last practice session for our first dance. After being announced and walking out onto the dance floor, we experienced the one major glitch of the evening. We couldn't hear the music! No matter, we didn't need any music to perform our heavily rehearsed box step (one, two, three, four and one, two, three four).

The rest of the evening proceeded flawlessly, and was everything we imagined. After one fantastic meal, three flavors of cake, many, many toasts, and a couple raucous hours on the dance floor (complete with jamming with the Rusty Scott Quartet and impromtu Indian dancing lessons!), the night was over. We were blessed to have a magical day surrounded by the people we love. Thank you to everyone whose support and love gave us a great foundation for our marriage.
